A troubling development is underway in Washington. Planned Parenthood is at it again. The pro-abortion organization is working on Capitol Hill to secure more funding - more taxpayer dollars for its work. According to its own annual report, the largest abortion provider in the world already receives almost $350 million of its annual $1 billion budget from the federal government. Now, as the U.S. House of Representatives considers how to spend taxpayer dollars for the year ahead, Planned Parenthood is again asking for more.
On Wednesday, the House Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee will take the first step in determining how much federal funding Planned Parenthood will receive. We believe this amount should be zero. That is why we are working with Representative Mike Pence and Senator David Vitter to support legislation that would prohibit Planned Parenthood from receiving any Title X family planning money. This is the time to stop funding Planned Parenthood. That's why this legislation is so important. As the legislative process unfolds, I will continue to keep you updated.
